Hi guys,

I'm from Singapore and new in this forum and have been loving what i see and read from you guys. I'm in the process of turning my 75' CB350F to a cafe style bike. So far i'm in the process of rebuilding the engine. I searched high and low for pistons and got 4 of them for S$545 from CMSNL.com. Thats like US$368 to be shipped to Singapore. Sigh..

At the moment i only have the pic of its former glory.

Hope to post more soon!!

I believe the tank is from a motorcycle called the Mojave (pronounced "Moehavy", emphasis on the Moe) 360, which was imported into the US (don't know about Canada) around 1970 or so.
It was a single cylinder 4 stroke (and I think it was 350cc, not 360cc) imported from Italy by Montgomery Ward or Sears Roebuck or somebody like that.
I believe it was built by Benelli, but I can't remember for certain.
Big Joe from Cosmopolitan Motors was flogging these tanks on the Cosmo website for awhile and showed pix of these tanks on both 160cc and 350cc Honda twins.
For my money, they look a little big on a 160 but it should be perfect for your 350.
Sounds like a great project- good luck.

Thanks guys for the support.

Pat, you're right. Its from a bike called Benelli Mojave 360 (1969). Does anyone know where or how i could get the fuel tank cover?

Hi guys,

I'm wondering whether anyone here knows how i could get the Benelli petrol tank cover? There is this guy selling over at Ebay Genuine NOS Monark Gas Cap #10546. It cost US$70 including shipping. I think its too expensive. Any chance someone here has a spare gas cap that could fit my tank?

This auction ends in FOUR HOURS; you might want to place a bid anyway:

http://global.ebay.com/gbh/viItem?ItemId=110305394920

Good luck; if you can't find one at a reasonable price, just measure the size (diameter) of the opening, and post it here. Mayne someone will have a cap that will fit. You'd be better off with a locking gas cap anyway; without a lock, anyone could just remove the cap and walk away with it.

Thanks for the search in Ebay. Actually that was the gap cap i was referring to. To ship it to Singapore would be an additional US$25. That is way too costly for my budget.

I will post a detailed pix of the whole with dimensions, Hopefully someone here may be able to help me out. Sigh.. :(

Look at it this way; if someone does have a cap that matches your tank, you will probably be able to find it locally for a LOT less than $70, and it will probably be a LOCKING gas cap, which means it won't disappear the first time you park the motorcycle out of your sight.

For all we know, there are a DOZEN gas caps that will work for you, so it is WELL worth your time to post the photos and specs, and you'll be making a permanent record for all who buy the same tank, then need to locate a functional gas cap. Seems to me that would be a worthwhile contribution to the general pool of knowledge available online...

Post the photos and details when you can, and with a little luck and patience, you'll find a matching gas cap for your new tank. You don't need to BUY one from someone here at DTT to ship all the way to Singapore; you only need to know which ones might work for you, then find a source local to you, so you can avoid the high cost of shipping it halfway around the world.

first off... great project! should be sick when it is done... sounds like valve train noise... try adding a bit of lucas oil additive...see what that does for you...

The sparkly gold seems a little bit too much for me, but if you like it then that's all that should matter! Nice seat by they way!

Did you find out what was wrong with your engine?

oh man... i juz sent to the mechanic again.. i think he's doing a f*ck up job... The timing chain is rattling so loud, carborators not set properly, speed goes up to max 80km/h before feeling engine strain, one of the carbs i think not functioning, my engine oil isleaking into the piston headblock causing white smoke emission...

arggghhh... wish i juz have my own space to doit myself... sigh... help...

probably i'm gonna stick with this color first for the next month till i found the right fuel cap for my benelli tank. ( i realised that there are 3 different versions with different sizing for the cap..) then i'll replace it... i wanna have the color in black..

Welcome! That tank is AWESOME - the font used for that 360 is fantastic...

Thanks... Yeah.. its quite in good condition.. But i'm gonna replace it with the ol honda wing emblem in its place..

Hi Guys,

Been riding the bike occassionally. Now i realised there is another problem with the bike, the 3rd exhaust from the left is emitting white smoke. And my bike can't reached high speeds fast. What should i do?? Anyone know the cause? Some of my friends said it might be the 3rd piston damaged. If this is the problem, can i just get that one piston replaced? Coz i rode the bike only 55km when this problem arise. Sigh...

Pls help..

Hi, I'm new to this site. I just purchased a Benelli tank this week for a CB400F project bike and was searching for more info on the Benelli cycle. If you ever got the tank installed, I would really like to see a picture and discuss how you mounted it. Thanks
