CB350F (the color of money) CAFE REVAMP

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

my thread needs a serious update because things have been getting close to being finished

last weekend i picked up a "cb400f parts bike" that has a solid motor that i plan on using for my engine build over the next months or year

i got my project so close to finished, and im really enjoying it, right now im tweaking stuff

last thursday it was getting the front brakes bled properly and building pressure in the possibly leaking master cylinder, so ive decided to do a rebuild on it pretty soon

then friday night i modified my "slipstreamcycleworks" rear sets and made a nice long bar that runs parallel with my rear brake linkage, now the rear brakes have so much more bite, and they stop the bike nicely

now, im messing with the idle circuit and trying to really tune the system as a whole, because with the pod filters and the cone exhaust with almost no back pressure things were a bit weird, so i made a washer baffle...i kinda doubted it would work, but my midrange power band came alive with it. Ive got no more blips in the throttle right now where i have it set along with my air screws and #85 main jets, but my rpms fall slowly if i whack the throttle open, its kinda like a lean condition, so im probabaly gonna get some #40 pilot jets and see how it does, cause right now im just running 1 1/4 air screws and it idles good and runs well but its gotta be perfect, but i feel like i got pretty lucky with this set up seeing as how everyone always screams to stay away from pods, but after riding it a few times this week, the bike really screams

also saturday tragedy struck (maybe) and my brand new bike masters agm battery died, so i left it on the battery tender over night, and took a ride this afternoon during my lunch hour. the charging system is working, and i rode for about 20 minutes, so hopefully the battery just needed a solid charge because it sat on a shelf for a while? who knows, ill find out later i suppose

what else is new...hmmm, led catseye taillight is on, but ive got no pictures ATM, bikes running, im smiling, all is well, now i just gotta work out the kinks and strip this 400f down to sell

and then of coarse...

is cb466f motor time 8)

so heres a couple pics

more to come!

Slow clap

Great job, I love the green!

Also hating you for making me want one of these, looks like a fun little bike.

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

Holy smokes.. you put this whole bike together in less than a month?! Ive been working on my 350f for 3 years on and off and its still not done haha. Nice work. I'm all about colored frames. In fact, I am thinkin about getting mine powder coated Nissan 370z Midnight Blue. Good work!

thanks a lot man, yea, ive always wanted a bike with a gold frame.

so yea, i really buckeled down, spent a lot of money in no time flat and got it done

but of coarse itll never really be done...i just ordered some pilot jets for it because on a warm ride yesterday it acted funny, so i assume when it really heats up this summer itll need the fuel even more to cool the cylinders, and its gotta a lean bottom end that cant be adjusted with air screws...i figured id have to anyway, so theyre on their way, along with a chinese steering damper i figured id give a try...

but now for those pics i promised

heres where i hid my rectifier

a nice shot of my rear set modification, this really really works, the rear before was stiff as hell, and youd have to really jam it, and then it would just be STOP or nothing at all

a nice shot of the front left showing my bronze stator cover

heres one of the motor close up

cool front end shot

to refinish my emblems i used nissan touch up paint, i used the QAB color code cause its kinda off white and still looks a little vintage, then i outlined it with nissan KH3 to really make them come back to life and look new

this is how i mounted my seat, i welded hinges to the frame and then bolted them to the seat, then i welded some strategically placed flat bar to the frame that was bent up to hold the seat stable, then put some dense foam pads on the bars so that the seat was cushioned from my not so heavy ass, i really just dont wanna put stress on the hinges and crack the side of the pan...

i also integrated my battery tray and taillight bracket into a two piece ordeal. if i want to move the taillight elsewhere, ill just unbolt the bracket from the protrusion on the tray, and it still will be able to go back to up top, no fucking around required

and last but not least, here lies my future cb400f engine...if anyone needs some hard to find parts, this bike has most of the good stuff like gauges, front fender, forks, pilot light, blah blah blah

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

Is that a DCC muffler? I have a 4-1 MAC system and not sure if I like it. Havent heard it yet but just keeping my options open.

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

Yea. The original Mac muffler was alright and all, looked alright. But didn't really work with rearsets, scraped on moderate leans, and wasn't loud enough for Texas highway traffic. But it got the job done and only required an 80 jet and air screws at 1 5/8ths turns for me. But it did sound nice and clean. And is a good value just to get a nice 4-1 collector. Got me through the summer and fall alright when I first got this thing put together after I got it in shambles back in May.

well thanks man, ive been posting all my updates on dfw's facebook group and those people seem to like what im doing, i just cant believe no one has called me out on anything yet, cause that seems to be a common trend on auto/moto forums nowadays, but i guess ill keep on truckin

ordered a new clutch kit, springs, shorty reverse cone muffler, siriuscon jet set, and a smallish 9aH battery last night

my tank and seat should be done this week since my painter and i finally decided on a color so theres that, and ive got my first weekend off in a month this saturday so it looks like ill be getting a lot of stuff done

just finished up (as much as a project bike can ever be finished before sale haha) and was wondering what muffler you ended up using here an where you got it/how much it was. you have a beautiful build and something we can all aspire to.

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

Well. Nominate me for bike of the month then 8) lol. And it's from cone engineering. It was about $100 plus shipping or something like that. Thanks for the kind words! Link us to your thread.

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

So sick! I really dig the color scheme. Very reminiscent of the original green on the 350f but taken to a new era. Very cool! Nicely done.

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

Followed ya cool build 8) great colour scheme :p and +1 on projects are never finished ??? best way sell on and start another  or ya end up tearing it down cos ya got another idea or colour scheme haha keep ya threads comin mate ;)

Re: CB350F CAFE REVAMP

thanks guys, my ducati has been tugging my heart strings lately so ive been spending a lot of time on that lately...still havent pulled the 400 motor or anything yet, but i still plan on doing it...i rode the 350f the other day for the first time in a month and it seems the front seal next to the stator developed a massive oil leak while i was having fun on the duc (almost as if the 350 knew and was angry) so now its parked until i can build the 400 motor and shove it in

but again...thanks for the replies, stay tuned for future motor tear down and build, once i get my bank account back after the modding the monster and buying track gear
