CB360 box build - Project Junebug

Depends on what's out of sync and by how much.

Usual symptoms are one cylinder not idling (that side's valve is closed too much and doesn't allow air in) or a hanging idle. Blip the throttle and if revs are slow to come down, then it's probably a sync issue.

Though it's minor, you're also putting a bit of stress on the engine components as one cylinder will be working harder than the other. And you're usually robbing yourself of a bit of power, too.

The only problem with the IR gun is that it can't detect between sync and timing disparities as both issues will cause exhaust temp changes. Better to do it the hard way or at least ensure ignition timing is spot on before doing the carb sync.
Makes sense. I was offering based on his previous post about the Pamco and dead on timing.

Okay, the locknut on the carb synch screw had come loose and the butterfly valve on left cylinder was completely closed. Bench synched the carbs and it is firing on both cylinders. Now the left one gets too hot too quick

It's idling high, and I know it from crappy boot clamps. Probably causing the lean condition as well. Replacing those riiiight now

What are you going to use to replace the clamps? I have seen standard stainless steel gear clamps has been a popular choice for some.

Yup, stainless worm-gear clamps. I feel like they grip better and get tighter than the OEM clamps.

Also, a question... Instead of using a tooth pick or paper clip or whatever, I just used the position of the butterfly valve in relation to the tiny air circuits in order to bench synch. Seems like an easier way, and you can be very exact because of how small they are. I guess that wasn't really a question, was it?

Or you could use these, paired w pjs adapters and know they are dead on for life. And easily check em them whenever you deem it necessary or tune up.

Those are kind of shitty quality. I have one. One thing I did figure out is when one gauge quits going back to zero and won't adjust to zero, you can adjust the other gauge to match the one that went wrong. It's not an accurate reading by vacuum, but you know you have a match.

I'll be making some good money on deployment here soon, I'll just buy a good manometer to have and to hold. Just gonna ride the piss out of it until then

Gotta get this front brake set up, but I can't find the new o-ring I bought, I found the piston but the Oring has disappeared. I've been digging through everything looking for it

Www.commonmotorcollective.com has a video about how to sync carbs using one gauge. When you only use one then it always reads the same. I think they also sell a kit.

Interesting. Might go that route.

Ugh I need the money for one of Sonreir's harnesses. Mine is such a mess after being modified for a R/R and Pamco ignition unit.

I run one on my bike. They're pretty good. ;D

Ha, well expect an order sometime in a month or so. I needs it bad. It's a rats nest under the seat, and almost worse under the tank.

Of course they're shitty quality. I plug em in, then swap the tubes to the opposite carb, (simply to check for a discrepancy between gauges) if they are both on...done. takes like 30 seconds. toss em back on the shelf.
