Been Around the Block
Howdy all,

okay, so i thought i would remember where the little BB went after i took it apart. Guess what... I was wrong. Can somebody show/tell me where to put the BB back please? No parts fiche or manuals exploded view shows the BB that I can discern.

Thanks
Tim

I don't think there is any bearings in a 360 carb. I could be wrong, but I definitely don't remember mine having any after I tore them apart.

There shouldnt be...?

is this you?

it could be the little bearing that goes inside the choke lever. did you take the choke apart?

Actually... now that's it's been mentioned, I do remember there being a bearing inside the square rod of the throttle linkage.

Been over a year for me, but I vaguely remember a shaft inside the square rod that's held in place by a small bolt, some springs, and a small bearing.

Microfiche doesn't confirm the bearing part though. We're probably still on a wild goose chase for something that isn't a part of the carbs.

There was definately 1 ball (looks just like a BB) for each carb that came out of one of the tubes (jets, needle valve etc.) from the bowl side. The bike ran great before i started the tear down and was stock. The carbs are still linked together. Ive only taken the top diaphram side and bottom bowl sides apart. I remeber becaue i said to myself... "i should be taking pictures of this...naw, I'll remember!"

I don't remember any balls anywhere in my CB carbs, and I've had them apart enough times to do it blind folded.

You are using stock carbs? Whats the number stamped on them?

If you only have the diaphram and bowls, floats jets etc. off. I know for a fact. If the BB belongs in there. They are not stock carbs.... I've done a 1/2 a dozen 360's and never had such a thing. SWEAR!

I'm wondering if he's referring to the little brass balls that are used to seal up the holes left from drilling the tubes. You can see them on the outside of the carb body. Maybe one of them was pushed in? Just a wild guess as I've never heard of a bb being in the carb either.

They are stock as far as i know. They match all the 360 parts diagrams I've found (except the ball). Here is some pics:

That is fuckin' bizarre! What possible reason could the PO have had to put 2 BB's in the the carbs? I swear to God...some poeples children need to be eaten before thier bones harden!

Again, PM Crazt PJ. He knows them best. He evn offers a 360 carb build service. I'm sure he'd be happy to clear things up.

We are obviously quite confused by them. I suppose it's possible you tapped into an area of the bowl that I never new existed.

One thing I can say is you are missing the throttle rod cover plug. Shouldn't be able to see the ends of the rod. PM CrazyPJ about this mess, he makes those as well.
