Looks like a good platform. First things first, get the weight off. I was able to get about 35lbs off mine. Its more about trimming the fat than increasing the hp if you want to do the ton. These bikes are super simple in design but make sure when you get to any wiring, especially in the headlight bucket, that you LABEL LABEL LABEL! Honda built a great bike but their wiring is a complete cluster. I spent a solid 2 weeks trying to figure out a wiring issue because I unplugged the wrong wire. Other than that this forum is great and can answer any question you may have. Good luck

Stephen

Weight has nothing to do with top speed, only acceleration. Hitting the ton on a Honda 360 without streamlining requires horsepower.

Looks like somebody had a TON of fun on that thing before you got your hands on it! These things are really starting to come out of the woodwork. and thats awesome ! Now, you and that boy get busy. And build a great machine. Gonna have to get that engine "tight" if you wanna do the ton.

Screw that nasty '70s wiring... I'm rewiring my 360 from the ground up, (pun intended), all new wiring and modern connectors. LEDs all around maybe even for the headlight. That funky wiring is something that just completely kills my mojo...

HA! he said mojo... as in Mojo Jojo! Well atleast it sounds like you have the right NEVER GIVE UP attitude to own a 360 from the start. Now hit it !

Ok, got a fair bit stripped down as you can see

I have started on the gauges and the carbs, everything is like a bunch of small projects

Condition of gauges is poor but I will get them good again

Great bike, nice to see your not chopping up a good condition 'survivor'
Lot of 360's here so no problems getting thing worked out.
Be careful with the wiring, there are differences between early 74, late 74 and 75 360's, it can get confusing if your wiring doesn't match any wiring diagram.
I've never seen one with that sort of mileage, is speedo actually working?

Wiring is real simple,
If you see Red, it's direct live 12v dc
Black, switched 12v
Green, ground
Black/white tracer, Ignition in (12v)
yellow and blue, points/condensers (Blue also used for high beam on a different circuit)

Thanks PJ, its a 1976 vintage, I have a good wiring diagram and checked it all prior to stripping

Cleaned and polished the carbs (yes they are Mikuni, this is what it came with and I have been told they perform better so keep them)
New seal kit and hoses etc on its way,
Q? should I spray them with a clear coat? will this be better long term as I suspect it will but will I loose any shine?

Fuel eats spray can clearcoat. instantly. If you clear them they will look like crap the first time you open them up. Peeling, bubbling, flaking, staining (yellow or brown) the clearcoat.
If you have never believed anything anyone has written on here...you can believe me, when it comes to this! And its not the fuel so much, as it is the additives and cleaners.

I'm not convinced it's a good idea to paint or coat carbs. On something that has so many small passageways, it would be easy to get something clogged in there.

Are the slides in the right way round?
the cutaway should be on airbox side
they are probably left and right handed and in the wrong carb?
If they are, they are a real small cutaway

they are carbs dude they don't need to be shiny. That aside they look nice. I wouldn't worry about coating them at all. I see someone with the attention to detail to shine carb bowls is pretty likely to polish them when he polishes the rest of the bike ie weekly at least. lol

PJ, Im pretty sure you cant mix them up, they have a pin that stops them from turning and the idle adjuster is on different sides ;)

I think I can agree with most of what is being said here and so they will remain natural..............and yes axeugene27 I clean my daily ride once a week 8)

Trust me, it's possible ;D
Used to do quite a lot of Yamaha and Suzuki twins with slides swapped left to right.
They fit when you reverse them
Could just be a 1.0~1.5 cutaway, if so, they may well have been set up by someone who DID know what they were doing and should work real well.
If so, you will have to post a list of what brass is in there (with pictures ;D )
Can you post a pic looking directly into throat from engine side?
Also, are they remote main jet? (unscrews with small plug on side of float bowl)
Just uploaded some pics.
You have left and right carbs so you have left and right slides, most people are fitting two 'right hand' carbs so one choke and idle adjuster is difficult to get to

Wow, Ive washed my poor old neglected girl 3 times since my brother drug it out of barn...1 1/2 years ago...lol. I painted my carbs so I have to be crazy careful bout tiny flakes whenever I crack em open...little flakes of clear would definitely be a big problem.

lots of stripping, I am waiting for the gauge stickers to arrive so I can put them together (mid July)

Ordered lots of parts, will post them when they arrive.

looking at the seat and electrical compartment at the moment before I de tag the frame and then will send off to powdercoaters.......pictures this weekend........ 8)
