This post will document the steps i took to create a cafe seat on my stock seat pan. I wanted an OEM-style cafe seat, one that will look like it came on the bike when I got it completed. I bought an extra Cb360 seat off of eBay and a spare CB360 tank. The only thing I didnt do myself is the upholstery.
I skipped the part of the plain gas tank, since y'all know what that looks like. Here is my "cowl" cut from the tank:
Test fit on the bike after I removed the OEM seat cover from the seat:
Test fit:
Now I have to clean it up and get it installed for the upholsterer! I used aircraft stripper then a wire brush to clean it all up.
Now, I knew I was going to use snaps on the cowl, but I did NOT want snaps running the length of the seat. I will be using the OEM seatcover hooks to keep clean lines down the sides of the bike. I used snaps with machine screws stamped into them for the cowl, and stainless allen bolts to attach the cowl to the frame. I did NOT want to remove any of the foam since I'm 6'4 and lowering the seat any would have wreaked havoc on my legs.
Then I took it to the upholsterer and this is what I got back today!
Thanks for looking!!!!
