CB360 carb question - Air screws on topside????

timdhawk

Been Around the Block
So my carbs came with removable air screws under the diaphragm... but i needed to replace one carb body due to a cracked float pin finger, so off to egay I went. The one that came doesn't have removableair screw however. WTF? There seems to be a few different carb body ID numbers for this bike... SO the question is - can I use one with the other? Do the air screws ever get changed out like jets or did they come in different size options?

thanks

I don't know the exact answer for your question but:

I wouldn't run 2 different carbs simply because tuning "might" be a nightmare, as well as both cylinders aren't getting the same mixtures etc------not that it won't run fine but 2 of the same is the best route.

As for removable air screws, I've only ever pulled them out for cleaning a carburetor, I can only assume that these could be changed to accomodate modified engines and their need for either more/less restricted air through those ports.

That being said, see if they are the same air jet size and you may be ok. See how helpful I am ::) I'll see if my googlefu can find any answers.

Thanx for the reply...They are the same carbs - both for a CB360. exact same except for the air screws... I'll get pics up.

EDIT:
both carbs

Well it looks like it's a CB OR CL360 carb.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-CB360-CB-360-CL360-CL-360-1974-75-76-CARBURETOR-BODY-759A-RIGHT-SIDE-/370776334034?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5653fdded2

Not sure yet if that matters maybe we can find what the CL360 air screws are supposed to be "size" wise. And then if they are the same, run it.

Those are air jets that screw in, a.k.a air corrector jets. I hadn't seen one screwed in like that before. PJ will know. He's the 350/360 carb expert.

Those carbs have MIXTURE screws to adjust the low speed fueling

Yeah, the second one looks to be pressed in though Teazer. Hopefully PJ can shed some light on it.

You can use mismatched carbs, I've had set sent for 'mods for pods' after they were 're-built' by a 'well known company'
that many people here have bought parts and jets from (me included)
Stock parts are fine as long as your using stock air filters/air box
I've seen the exact same part number on press in and screw in air jet carbs
