CB360 - Monoshock Brat

After the holidays and I'm really itching to ride. Back to work on assembling the motor. New piston rings and gaskets. Starting to look like a motor again after sitting in pieces for months. I really hope this thing works...

I should have checked this gasket set I purchased a long time ago...it had the valve stem seals that I needed and ordered several weeks ago.

This weekend I'd like to finish the motor as much as I can and paint the frame and swingarm.

Finished the motor assembly today. Need to work on ignition next. I think I'm going to go 2 into 1 headers out to a 12 inch Shorty muffler.

I need to reinforce my seat hoop next. Paint the frame and swingarm. Black out the wheels and get some new rubber. Need to start thinking about wiring shortly there after.

oh my gosh dude, i TOTALLY forgot to get you a pic of my 2-1 coupler! seeing this sparked my memory. i'm sorry, i'll get that to you asap!.

I've enjoyed following your thread. You are doing some interesting things. The placement of the monoshock proves you are a braver soul than I, but I like the creativity!

I'm a huge fan of the length of your seat. I love when the frame is balanced over the rear tire. It really gives the bike an aggressive look.

Started digging through the electronics box tonight. I recovered the regulator, rectifier, indicator lights, right hand switches, top half of the kill switch, flasher, some octopus looking thing, rear brake light switch, points, coils, condenser, and a whole mess of wire harness.

Now I need to figure out whats worth keeping and what I should just go ahead and replace.

Octopus thing is the solenoid for the starter. A smaller switch inside the solenoid triggers a bigger switch so you don't have big current pumping through your wiring harness when you fire the starter motor.

Thanks Neevo.

I'm also having trouble finding what I thought would be a simple answer. What are the 4 wires and their colors that come from the cb360 stator and go into the harness. Are 3 of them AC current from the magnets? and he other one is the neutral wire, is that the one slides into the little brass clip...not attached to the stator really? Sorry if that's confusing, it is to me too.

Brass clip is neutral indicator. It's a grounded feed to the light cluster that is also connected to the clutch switch and that small square diode located behind the side covers.

Supposed to stop the bike being fired up when the bike is in gear if the clutch isn't pulled in.

Do you have a wiring diagram? They look confusing but are actually pretty easy to follow.

I've been looking at several diagrams trying to figure out which one is easiest to follow. I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks crazypj.

Neevo, I'm planning on ditching the stock wiring harness and rerunning wires, hopefully simplifying it a bit in the process. All the electronics needed to make the motor work (including starter) are my first priority. Then I'll need head and tail lights, possibly turn signals, and anything to do with my instruments.

My main concern is properly wiring up the alternator, reg, rec, solenoid, starter, coils, points, and confirm that the battery is getting charged. From there I can run lights all over the place.

I would get something like this, dead simple to wire up
http://www.ebay.com/itm/honda-vf-1000-1100-saber-sabre-interceptor-regulator-rectifier-sh541-12-/261150232457?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccdc44f89&vxp=mtr

How much of a difference is it if you change from the std reg/rectifier to a single late model unit?

I was thinking of doing this to my CB360, it has std charging etc etc
