CB360 --> Rear CB750,550 Rear Disk Brake Conversion via Cognito

Been Around the Block
(edit:eek:riginally wanted GSXR forks/double calipers up front...and dont like tubes...so wanted mag front and rear wheels, but Clem convinced me to do none of this) i also dont have the dough or knowledge of offset/rake/trail to attempt any of that.

switch it up, a complete Rear conversion instead...cb750 disc conversion aluminum hub, sun 2.15 x 18 wheel, brembo caliper, bracket/spacer for caliper on axle. cognito has impressive offerings. ducati monster rotor.

cb360 rear axle is 17mm / cb750 is 20mm / 550 is iirc but also 25mm on some models? i was confused looking at the 'jap bike bible' axlle list..i went with their hub for a cb750...hope it works out!

i need a master cylinder and bracket of some sort...
will try a 350 passenger right footpeg bracket w/ pclamp around frame for something sturdy to bolt to...maybe the 360 bracket will work in some fashion..

listen to this album if you like death metal.

Re: CB360 --> GSXR 600 or CBR600rr or R6 Conversion Newb

Why? I would think that that particular motorcyle would handle better with a revalved stock suspension. Wrong weight, geometry and style of motorcycle for a gixxer suspension.

The conversion hubs with aluminum rims would be very nice and should save a bit of weight. You can get tubeless spoked rims for the right price.

Its habbening guys...

I was kindof hoping to get away with some offset sprockets, 17mmID->20mmOD steel bushings, and some custom spacers via mcmaster-carr without having to do too much else.

Pics coming, once I do some mockups...
I think its gonna work...

found this. to slide over cb360 axle and turn it back to 20mm for the bearings/hubs. should be nice n snug, but can sand if necessary.

working on finding a suitable sprocket...34t needs 4 holes, 110mm spacing, 80mm center diameter hole

then have to center wheel, figure out if i need a special spacer to get that exact, and then figure out sprocket alignment with either offset sprockets or spacers....then finally caliper via stopper linkage mounting and then the scary part, master cylinder mounting....

I have the weight differences somewhere on here, rim alone is about 2 lbs lighter. GSX-R forks are lighter than the originals 33mm forks which work OK but 35mm is a good conversion. I'm using GSX-F forks on most of mine the lower offset increases trail and makes bike way more 'stable' (slow steering) but they do need to be shortened with some spacers under damper rod 'pistons' The 25th anniversary GSX-R 750 forks are exact same length as stock 360 forks and were anodised blue (one year only),It's all in my 'Build to blog 360 thread somewhere, with pictures
