cb360t

Yeah that one is way better. cleaner lines. Props on DIY. I always think Im down for it. Then I realize the work involved...

so good news, I started the bottom of the new tank today, and actually improved some things. the old design would need a crossover tube and now the new one wont, plus I'm forming most of the shape of the bottom instead of welding together flat pieces, so instead of 5 pieces, there will be 2!

almost done with the bottom, love the improvements, and love that it won't need a crossover tube

That looks like a nice PITA to make. Weld done on it. Now, be very careful when you weld it up :) Seriously--and this is just me--I'd purge-weld the tank. I have no idea if the back-purge will help, but it certainly won't hurt. That should let you get hotter on the arc and get a good penetration. Plus, it's not like 3 gallons of argon will kill your wallet :)

The new solution looks very good. Visually, I don't see how you're going to get away without a cross-over. There's no harm in welding in the tubes, then capping them off. With no cross-over provisions, you're screwed if you need to weld them in later on down the road.

if you look at the very back, there's a small channel that goes around the outside edge that's the same level as the rest of the bottom. I'll test it when i install the petcock with water first though, in case I still need a tube. i did buy a T for my tank and another regulator too, so it will be back purged when i weld the perimeter. that will be one nice p.i.t.a. too, i'm looking at it thinking about how to strategically tack the bottom in to keep it from distorting the tank when it cools... it's going to be like putting a puzzle together

gotta finish the front brake, gauges and hook up the rearsets

it's on tank #2 also... would have been done a while back if I didn't have to build a second tank

going to fire it up this weekend

isn't it funny how 90% of a build takes the first 10% of the time... and the last 10% of the build takes 90% of the time?

Man, isn't that the truth. The nitpicky stuff is what drives me mad. It literally turns your hair gray.

Looking really good man.

got the battery installed, and tidied up the electronics, everything works, gotta find some kind of brake light now

Very sweet. I have a 360 I'm thinking is about to get redone.
What shocks are you using?
And, what did you use to clean your cylinder fins? I never get mine looking that good. They always have that black dis-coloration.

I took the motor to the carwash and pressure washed it, of course, plug the hell out of the openings if you do that, and there's an opening between the sprocket cover and alternator cover that needs to get plugged too or water will get in the crankcase. The shocks were something i bought on egay a long while ago for my 400f, but i never used them so I used them here

Bike looks fantastic! Love the second tank and what can be said about that seat! Wow!!! Great work bro!
Is she running yet?
