CB400F build

Hello all,
I haven't been on here for quite a while since I sold my last cb350, but the time has come again for a bike in my life.
So basically a co-worker of mine found out I was interested in old motorcycles. He told me his buddy used to have a cb400f and it may still be around. Liking small single cam hondas, I told him to give the guy a ring.
Well a few emails and 300 dollars later I got this:

Has title, came with a manual, and even has the original tool kit!

So then I cleaned the carbs

And bought a battery. But it was only getting spark to half the cylinders. After some diagnosing, I found it just needed a new condenser. After ordering and installing a new set of points and condensers it runs!

Then I found a guy on craigslist with a cb500 rolling chassis for 75 bucks. That has a bigger front end that kind of bolts on to this one with 35mm forks instead of my 33mm. So I got it.

And then there were two:

And then I fit the 500 front to the 400

And as of sunday the 400 looks like this

I also made round one of purchases:
Got an engine gasket kit, carb rebuild kit, m/c rebuild, brake pads and shoes, stainless engine bolt kit, bronze swingarm bushings, woodcraft clipons, gsxr rearsets, and had a tank, seat, and fender made by Tannermatic

The seat needs to be cut to fit the frame with the tank. I am making a hoop for mad scene points to wrap around the seat in the back as part of the frame.

I have also begun the process of polishing the aluminum bits. This takes a lot longer than I remember!

So the plan is to have a decent winter project that fits in my apartment, and to get to a better performing bike than stock.
I took the valve cover off of the engine, and the timing chain is tight and the tensioners seem good.
Because of this, I will probably keep the engine stock internally this year for simplicity sake, and next year after some riding time I will dig into it if I still want to.
Well thanks for looking!
