I like the look of the supports wrapping over the original fender as on your brothers and like on my '71 CB750 ....."Vintage"

Did you drill and tap the lower forks to accept the supports?

No, the holes were already there and tapped.

Ahhhh Makes sense now. Was about to ask if you had ground of the fork lock from lower triple tree

Thanks for all the answers & clarification. If you posted it was a GT550 front end earlier in post...sorry I forgot.

Little progress... Got so caught up in the build off that I nearly forgot about several paying jobs. So this one is back on the burner.
Got the frame painted. And started final polishing some of the bits. Here is where it's at as of tonight.

Well, things are starting to come together on this scooter. Cant wait to get it finished and out of my garage. This is the last build I'm taking on for quite some time.
It can be hard to get inspired when your building another persons vision of whats rad. I do have some freedom on the creative end. But not as much as I would like obviously.
Got the motor cleaned up, cylinders painted etc. Along a few other bits re-installed.

Ha ha! Thanks man...

The guard is mounted on the side "ear" bolts. Not all that fancy. But looks the part I think.

Can you post a pic of how its attached to the ears? I used one on my 750 but wasn't keen on the way I had it mounted. Never thought about using the ear/bucket mounts.

Looks great man. A lot of cool details so far. You'll have a happy buyer.

Thanks Kev and Todd... Feels good to get some compliments on this. As stated before, my heart isnt in this build. It's a lot like my last marriage, Just going through the motions, ha ha... I hope he likes it. Otherwise I'll be in a major shit storm... But I think with some clip-ons and a solo seat, I could sell it to anybody for what I'll have in it if he doesnt...?

Thanks again everybody.

Shit SWL, that is looking badass. Well done man, 400twins are not easy to make look good. I love my 400T2 and its good to know I could swap out the shitstars for spokes.

I look forward to watching this one come together.

Sure, ll get a pic for ya. Yours looks good! That whole bike kicks ass.

Thanks for the compliment! My stone guard was held in with clips between the headlight and rim. Holds alright but didn't make for easy adjustment. Always like to see how others do it. This 400 is coming out sweet. I have a CM400T I have been on the fence about modifying. They are challenging, so far I am really liking this build and taking notes!

I went back to check out this build from the start and I am super impressed. I'm getting stoked for my cm400 cafe as soon as I finish the current 750! You are an inspiration. Thanks for keep this thread going.

I really like the gs font end, I didn't notice that at first - looks so stock at first glance until you notice the brake.

Don't know the guy, but if he has a sack and even a slight amount of taste you're good to go.
