Guys? What color should be my brake drum side cover? Should I put it red or black?

Hi,

I was working on lacing my rear wheel now...

:D Looking good :) Here's some pic during the process and the final .

Let me know if you guys think that red should be the way to go for the drum panel or should I go black

FWIW, I vote black. Don't over-do the red.

OK :) so black it is then.!

Thanks for the comment I think the wheel cam out pretty well.

The brake pad are still usuable with around 8mm left on them. Should I still change them because they're old?

H-O-T. This thing is gonna be a cafe masterwork with all the effort you have poured into it.

Haha thanks!! Powerfull AND a beautiful...
Think i'll surprend some of the new motorcycle :).

this is my first motorcycle... So I try to put everything together the best way :p...

Keep a close eye on the spacing on the sprockets. When i replaced my front sprocket, it needed a shim behind it to keep the original alignment.

Cool but I think these a spacer in the package of the front sprocket

Did you like the conversion kit so far? More power?

I have a 428 chain - no conversion kit.

Yours looks like it has the clip for the outside of the sprocket, and it might not even need a spacer. Just didnt want your sprockets getting chewed up.

wouldn't the alignment alter by a similar amount front to back if both sprockets are changed?

Depends on the slight offset of the sprockets I would think.

I see. But if it's a direct replacement I'm guessing this wouldn't be an issue? I'm asking because I've just put an order in for a 520 conversion set-up for my 900, and didn't anticipate a mis-alignment ???

cheers

Sorry, let me clarify:
The original front sprocket on my cl175 had a step turned onto the backside of it to keep it a constant distance from the case. It also had a small lockwasher that bolted onto the front of the sprocket. When i ordered a new sprocket, the teeth were the same width, but there was no step turned onto the back - it was flat. The new one came with the same clip as what's pictured with Joe's sprocket. That's why i mentioned the spacing.

i had to take the original lockwasher and put it behind my new sprocket to keep the original spacing (and so the sprocket wouldn't slide back and forth on the output shaft). I would hope the 520 conversion kit wouldn't have the same problem as me - just wanted to play it safe.
