Cb450 header solution

My headers are rusty and shitty. I want them to be chrome to match the mufflers I bought. How do I get the shitty old headers back to good?

I'm interested too...but I have a pretty good idea that there isn't a "cure" for anything like that. The answer is most likely going to be make new headers (custom) or find another set that isn't crappy. If there is another way I would LOVE to hear it, since my pipes are crusty at the top too :'(

Surely they can be rechromed at a minimum?

But if they are pitted etc, it would probably show through a re-chroming wouldn't you think? (I truly don't know, just tossing out a thought here)

old saying: "some turds can't be polished". They were referring to rusty headers. Chroming will show and amplify EVERY imperfection. Unless you can sand them to a perfect bare metal surface, they are a lost cause. Maybe you can powder them matte black? That will hide a lot if they are solid.

I don't think chromers will redo used exhaust as the carbon and contaminants will ruin their chemical vats.

I guess I'll just struggle along and hope to find some in decent shape.
