Coast to Coast
hello, i need any info on replacing the crank bearings in my 1973cb500.
what the code looks like on the bearing, there are no colors on them?
just one number, D 2 I - A on all of them.
any info on any thing would be awesome.
thanks,
later.

hey guys,
ya i can get the bearings up here through the dealer, about 13$ for one set, there are five sets. also can get the cam chain and guides.
i looked, and all i found was the stamped D2I-A and under that STD both stamped in the back side of the bearings, all the same.
is there an acual color on the bearing? or just a code? what would i be looking for either way?
thanks for the replys.

You have to look for numbers on case, crank and rods, they will translate into bearing colours.
You do have a service manual?

Have a look on the edge of the bearing for a colour code. It pretty much just looks like a texta mark. Sometimes they are near impossible to see though.

TEXTA.... Are you Orstralian by any chance?

hey, guys.
so you are saying that the letters on the case, the numbers and letters on the rods are the ones used to cross, if the color is not visable??
because the book says, not to use these while repairing and assembling the engine.
it makes sense that you would use these numbers, as they are the ones honda used at the factory. they make so difficult to find out. even my guy at honda says its hard to find out the ones in it, but can get all of the ones honda offered.
any way, thanks.
