Try Electrexworld in the uk or Tony Weeks at Orgeon M/C parts. They can probably supply a unit with the correct connections on it to match teh OEM connectors and wiring colors.
what is this white wire for? i was told to eliminate it but i think that bit of info is incorrect.
can somone tell me how to wire a 5 wire (3yellow,1red,1blk) reg/rec up? to this stator? or am i going to have to find another reg/rec assy.?
Ok first is that a re-drawn diagram? Second there's a big black ring covering the area of interest.
Typically 'odd' wires from the generator can be used for starter solenoid lock outs (doesn't seem to be here, but the xs650 does use this for example) or a sampling wire for regualation purposes.
At a guess you could use regulator from something like a later CB250. These are common in the UK ( and the World) and therefore cheap.
A lot of units used on 70/80/early 90s bikes have an extra sense line. these need to connected to a live wire that is switched off by the ignition switch. Some earlier regulators were a bit 'leaky' on the voltage sense side, so they used the ignition switch to isolate the circuit from the battery when the engine was off. The CB250 is a classic example of this. A Yamaha RD250 uses a different voltage sense circuit that isn't so leaky so doesn't need a sense wire, this unit would also work on your bike.
