Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
I've been staring at my 500T for two years while its on the lift in the garage and you have managed to blow away my progress in two months. I did raise a kid and go through a year of medical school in that time though lol.
Keep the pics and updates coming! Did you re-jet those carbs after the exhaust and the filter ditch?
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
haha, thats alot dude! a kid and med school are alot to take on.
i think the precious owner did it when he swapped exhaust, and my baffles are creating way more backpressure than the exhaust he was running did. but if i need to once i get it running i definately will.
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
Man, good work josh... That motor just looks so good. I am glad to see that picking up a project this late in the season won't leave you stranded this summer.
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
thanks for the tip man! i am going to copy the mesh bud... i really like that, i bet painted/powdered it would really do well to hide the lense and look trick!
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
The carbs on these twins are dreadful really and are bitchy at best when used 'open element' ie; pods or velocity stacks.
It can be done but they still suck as they need some back pressure to operate the slide. You can drill the little transfer port in the slide out a little. Try going up one size drill bit first. Also, though it goes against everything I believe in (flow = power) you can cut a small disc and place it over the carb inlet and use your pods to trap it in place. Punch a hole in the center of so....7/8" and give that a try. You may need to fiddle with it a bit but adding some restriction will allow the carbs to act like stock.
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
Interesting, il give it a try, anything to make them better cuz the only way I was getting to run ok was with no element just wide open. Il def take this into consideration thanks swag
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
Port and polish the head and get rid of the stock carbs and go with Mikuni VM 34's! Get the jetting tuned right with whatever exhaust and pods you run, and that will be the best way to make more power! I tend to like the UNI filters better than pods, but either will do the trick if tuned with it!
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
i have a set of mikuni's actualy, they look to be in descent shape, they were on the suzuki, dont think they were the stocks on that. look to big to be stock for a 250.
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
VM32 or VM34's would work for your bike, and mikuni's did come factory on some suzuki's, that is what Eileen had stock, but I did not get them with her
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! damn this is going fast!
cool, should be a nice upgrade for sure, il give them a cleaning and slap them on, then sort out the tunning when i fire her up. hopefully theyl run better than the ones im running now.
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! needs a name any suggestions?!
Painted the mesh black, installed the new gauges, and put back some other stuff.
Tires will be ready Friday, they're pretty cool, front will be a tight fit but hopefully no issues, If I do then anyone wanna buy a 110/90/19 front tire? Lol.
Any way here's some pix.
And one of the rear drum, had also forgotten to post that.
Re: PRESENTING THE NEW CB500T BUILD! needs a name any suggestions?!
That brake drum would just pop if you took a countersink to all those holes. I did it on my rearsets, and boy does exposed aluminum look great on black.
