Cb550 bearing question

Hi Folks

I'm refreshing my CB550 engine. It's very low miles and never been opened previously. Here's my question - the engine case is stamped AABBC but the main bearings are stamped, from left to right as follows:

D6G-A STD
D6G-A STD
D6H-A STD
D6I-A STD
D4A-A STD

Shouldn't the third and fourth bearings from the left match seeing as they correspond to the BB stamped into the engine case? Am I missing part of the equation here? FWIW, all the bearings are black.

Yes you have all 'A' bearings there. The bearings are color coded as follows:-

A Black
B Brown
C Green
D Yellow

You need to get a workshop manual. This will tell you how to measure and then cross reference the info to select the correct bearing color. Don't just rely on whats stamped on the crankcase.
