CB550 Cafe/Brat Tire Suggestions?

Guys on the Savage forum LOVE Shinko tires. Decent price, decent life, very decent handling. Front and rear for less than the cost of the starts cupping at 3 months or 3K miles stock IRC front...

Very cool. I won't rule them out then.

It is nicknamed the "Skidmaster" for a reason... the front end can drift pretty easily, but I still run them on choppers and barhoppers. Try and find a tire that looks like the mid 1990s Dunlop Qualifier that came on Intruders. Like the clone on my Savage...

Never heard them called 'skidmaster'?
They track real good on bikes designed for ribbed front tyres.
Personally I wouldn't use them on a 550 though even though Norton Commando used them
As for sizes, unless your going to re-spoke with different rims you have to use 19" front and 18" rear. Correct size is 3.25" wide front and 3.75" rear. Nearest metric sizes will be 90/90 front and 100/90 rear

Thanks man. The previous owner had a 3.25H 19" front, 100/90H 18 (4.00H 18) rear on the bike.

Handling gets a 'bit strange' if you fit more than a 110/90 on rear
I changed the rims on mine in 1978, still have it but it needs a full 'resurrection' after 106,000 hard miles ;)

I'm looking to stay around the same tire size. And I want to use my wheels but they have seen better days.. I'm hoping to get the rims and spokes powder coated black while I have them apart to put on new tires.
