CB550 Does the coil go bad?

Been Around the Block
I own a CB550 thats been running ok until today it suddenly lost spark at cylinder 2 and 3. As some of you may know, 2 and 3 is fed by the left coil.
I checked the wiring and everything seem to be hooked up. Both left and right coils are warming up when i try to crank the bike and bike does start up on cylinder 1 and 4 (I can feel it warming up on 1 and 4 headers)

Is it common for the coil to go bad?
Could it be some other issues that's causing loss of spark at cylinder 2 and 3? I would like to narrow down the issues before getting a new coil to test with.
How about the points? should i check on this? I have never opened them as the bike never had issues like this before.

Any comments/ suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks!

Switch 2/3 coil with 1/4 coil....if 1/4 now miss, it's the coil.

But before doing that, swap the plugs. The coils on that are dual fire, so if one of the plugs is back, neither fire...

it is much more likely the points, check them, one set is likely closed down,
.......a points check/tuneup along with timing verification every 1000 miles minimum, learn to do it
