These are a couple of pictures of my dad's old bike. He had it way back in the early to mid 80's. He had to sell it for financial reasons when we were kids. It was his first bike. So, first of all, I'm looking for one like this to put back to original condition. Paint it the same colours and basically make it look exactly the same. The plan is to give it to him for his 50th birthday. Kind of a "relive your youth" thing for him. I'd be looking for a pretty cheap bike, as the current projects are taking up a fair amount of my budget. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. If anyone can tell me what year this bike was, that would be great too. I can't ask my dad or he'll suspect something is up, since he knows I like messing with old bikes, he could put 2 and 2 together and clue in.

Yeah, that was an aftermarket exhaust. He replaced the 4-4 system with that because the old one was rotted away. I never noticed the turnouts before until I looked at these pictures again. I saw that one on Kijiji. There's pictures of it on another posting and it definitely isn't worth $1150 by the looks of it. That bike was part of my childhood too. We had the whole family on there at one time. My Dad and Mom, my older brother and myself, and my Mom was pregnant with my sister. Just kinda toured around the lawn a bit, but I remember it. I was about 2 then. I remember I kept hitting the kill switch and shutting the bike off on my dad.
I'll keep the eyes open for something. A great deal will come along sometime. Just hope I'm the first to find it before all of you! Lol!

Thr turnouts on that bike are Jardine turnouts..they still are availible on ebay every once in a while.

i purchased these turnouts last summer on ebay for $110.00.installed them about 3 months ago.
they sound great.and no rejetting was required
they are NOS and were made specifically for these bikes 8)
as a side note. the box states 71 - 76 .....but they fit on my 77 550 no problems.even comes with the center stand stop :
