CB550 tank mount mod...

So I have a '75 CB550 I am working on that is my first build. I have a question, were these tanks seriously only held in place by the front frame mounted bushings and that flap of rubber in the rear?? The bike I bought was partially disassembled and I'm looking through the parts for a mount of some sort and I am not finding anything. So, I figure I should at least add a fastener of some sort to the rear of the tank where the tab is. I was thinking about welding a washer into the middle hole on the frame and then using some rubber washers to insulate? Has anybody else worried about this or am I being over precarious?

Yes, most tanks are held on with just rubber bits to isolate them from vibrations.

I put a cb550 tank on my 450 and used a modified 750 tank mount rubber piece to attach it. The bolts in the pic do not go through the tank part, just the rubber.

Yes. I have a 75 550 and the tank only needs the rubber mounts to be secure.
