cb550f front forks

So i know its kindof a stupid question and im getting ahead of myself with the build, but what do the front forks on a 550 look like without the rubber gaiters? and what do they even do exactly?

Look at any other forks (CB750) without the gaitors and you'll see what they look like. You'd need the little dust caps on the fork lowers to keep crud from collecting on top of the seals.

They only serve to protect the travel area of the fork tubes from debris etc. But, they can also trap moisture and accelerate rusting of your tubes.

I like the way they look. Had them on my CB550 and have them on my BMW R75.
