Been Around the Block
hey!

has anyone installed these switched from DCC on a CB550F? I have a 1976 CB550F. info on a cb550 install might be helpful, but the "k" and "f" models have different wiring harnesses, so 550f is preferred 8)

thanks!

I looked at those for my 500. What do you need help with? It should be pretty straight forward. Your starter button is just completing a ground and everything else should be included in the diagram for the switches. You should be able to find an acurate bike wiring diagram online. If you cannot I will scan one from my manual.

Heads up on the starter. When the Headlight law went into effect (1976), Honda did away with the headlight on/off switch. Since the headlight was now on all the time, the starter switch also turns off the headlight when the starter is engaged. So the starter is no longer a grounding switch, it switches 12V live.

Better double check the wiring schematic to make sure....

Your knowledge blows me away time and time again.

It's only because I have a 1976 Honda and I was both motorcycling in the 70s and replacing my right control pod.

I also found that slightly later Honda changed from a single pole switch with 3 connections ( no com nc ) to a double switch with one no switch and one nc switch. My right pod I believe is from a cb550 4 cyl. I made a common connection between the switches and took one of the four wires to that switch so it matched the three wires on the 76.

If you have a cb360 manual. Check the schematics. There is an addendum for the 76 that shows these changes

I've been around a while.

Hey. the switches did not come with diagrams. I asked DCC for some diagrams, but they said they do not have any. I have the CB550F wiring diagram, but i have had a hell of a time connecting aftermarket switches.
