Picked this up a few weeks ago, needed new exhaust which I found locally- exhaust inspired me to get it out and start cleaning it. It had been sitting for 6 years- put in a new battery, cleaned the plugs and whalaa, fired after a couple cranks. Thankfully the PO put Sta-Bil in before parking it. Pulled the carbs yesterday and went from there. Almost done, just need to pull the rear wheel and clean the ass end.

1978 CB550K, 15K miles. Stock other than Norman Hyde M bars and '75 seat which doesn't fit- damn. Need to recover the stock one.

My first bike was a 78 cb550 with the same color scheme. i loved it and wish i never sold it. I love the tank color and the flashy four into four exhaust.

Makes me wish i still had it, rather than my 79 cb650

Thanks- need to leave at least one mostly stock ;D

I cleaned the carbs, haven't messed with it much since taking the picture- other projects got in the way.

Yep, chrome is good

Picked this Corbin seat up this winter at a swap meet . . . wouldn't take much to fit it to the 550K . . . hmmmm. I believe the seat is for a Commando.

Thoughts?

I think the first pic looks more period correct. The Corbin looks like it came form an 80's bike. It looks good with the Norman Hyde's.
