Cb750 '74 crank bolt

Any suggestions on how to remove the crank bolt? I've removed the heads and can't seem to switch into any gears. I need to lock down the crank without ruining the case or rotor, but haven't had any luck yet.

Just take it to your local service station, and ask them to loosen it for you with an air impact wrench.

I've used an impact. Problem is the crankshaft is free, flailing around and will bang the case up. Wanted to see if anyone had tricks, but I guess most here are smart enough to do this early in the tear down haha. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to make a rig to fix the crankshaft.

It's easy to simply hold the crankshaft from spinning to use an impact driver. It's not going to make anything "flail around." Just hold the crankshaft with one hand, and use the impact wrench with the other.

Crankshaft is free so make it unfree!
You don't say how its free just that head is off. Are the cylinders or pistons off? I usually take a stick of wood or a small hammer wood handle to jamb the crank against the case so that the porkchop of the crank turns into the direction of the hammer handle to wedge it against the case OR use a pair of sticks of wood under a piston and across the cylinder hole so as it comes down the wood won't allow it to descend anymore. It should be immobile enough that an air wrench or a breaker bar should dislodge the bolt. Air wrench is easier unless motor is still in frame so motor won't rock around with the breaker bar. Physics...inertial momentum speed vs. brute force. Many times a rag stuffed in the same place (the right spot) will work.
Same concept as loosening lug nuts before you jack up wheel to change it!
