I have my 1970 torn to bits and will start ordering the parts I will need, but I have a few questions. I would like to lower the bike, but I don't want the exhaust to get too badly banged up, what is the shortest rear shocks you have seen used? If I remember Carpy replied to an email and said 11-1/2, eye to eye, but I cannot remember. Also, I would like to put progressive springs up front with shorter fork tubes (I cannot remember the guy who makes these), and wonder what I would have to do to determine how long these need to be to keep the bike level. I know the last one is difficult, but I would like to get everything powder coated, polished and painted before assembly. I know that is not the ideal way to do it but.....

hey there
I hope you get the shock thing worked out?
I use 13.5 eye to eye and sometimes 14.5 if I need the rear end lifted higher.
Ikon makes cool shocks, progressive are good for the money too.
try www.oldbikebarn.com as bear is a cool guy and sells shocks at wickedly cheap prices.
