Cb750 electrical issues

Hey I really need some help!

On my 1978 Cb750f, I was driving it the other day when it started to act up on me

It was riding it kinda sort of hard (5-6000 rpm) when it started bogging out on me and was loosing rpms.

It got to the point when I was close to my destination (maybe a ten minute ride) when it started bogging and running rough on me, if I were to give it gas it would automatically drop power on me. When I parked it I left it running and it died shortly after. I am sure that it has to do with my carbs, more specifically jets..
my carbs are not jetted correctly for the air pods that I have replaced the stock airbox with.

But the weird part is that after being turned off my bike would usually run fine again as long as I stay in a reasonable range of power. But after sitting for an hour or two I came back to it, turned the key and NOTHING came on. No neutral light, no oil light, no headlight, nothing. I thought maybe a dead battery?

Cause I have had the suspicion of a bad charging system before..

so I charged the battery over night to 100%, went back,
Put everything together, turned the key on and nothing again. No lights at all..
Checked the grounds, they're good.. all wires looked good.

what is going on?

checked the fuses, found a bad fuse, replaced it, still, nothing..

what other things could it be? Please help a brotha out.

I don't want to take it to a mechanic, because I don't have the budget for electrical work or diagnostics

im experiencing a similar issue with my 350, i took it for a ride, and the thing just dint want to accelerate pass 6k, then it died and dint want to come back on, i measured the battery and it was nearly dead,

im thinking it my be something with the regulator rectifier so i will be trying the kohler one today, i suggest you check for a broken cable somewhere, a bad main fuse, the rectifier regulator and the ignition switch, maybe is something simple, i was idling on one cylinder and it turned out to be a broken cable that i dint noticed because it was still held together by heatshrink

Is your starter relay pulling in? Should hear a single click if it is, if not your battery may be gone. Load test the battery to know for sure if it is dead, if you find it is suspect replace and go from there

I do not get a click from anywhere in the bike... The starter relay switch may be bad, because it is highly unlikely that my battery is bad- seeing that it is only about 3 and a half months old.. thank you for the help though I will explore this and see if it is the problem.

I will also search for broken cables, bad connections, etc

Should be good then if only 3 months old. You could bypass the relay if you know what your doing, if she tries to kick over straight away you'll know straight up if the relay is the culprit. Or take the relay out and put 12v on the coil to see if it pulls in. Good luck!

Batteries are not good based on aged. You can kill a battery in a day if you are good.

What is the battery voltage ?

Under 12v, it is dead. The standing voltage of a fully charged battery is 12.6 volts. Fresh off the charger, as high as 13.6 volts.

A good battery can still be a dead battery.

If you can't load test the battery yourself take it into somewhere that specialises in batteries and they'll test it for you for free. Would think most garages may be able to help you out aswell
