CB750-Magni Agusta Build

Looking pretty nice.

Are your bars going to hit the front of your tank? Looks kinda tight in there.

X2 on the sweet looking forks!

yeah, the tank has a pretty serious curve in the front, and they clear by about an inch, so not quite enough to move all the way to the stops, but close enough for govt. work

updates: finished the oil tank except for the drain plug, the filler cap comes in right under the seat with a hole for access, started the swingarm today too, using 1X3 aluminum... almost seems overkill

I love the oil tank! Great fabrication, and the oil filler idea is perfect. The seat cutout should be round though. Actually, I think an aluminum seat would really complete the look of the bike. It's not like it would be too hard for you.

And that swing arm is going to be really cool. But after you have it all welded up, are you going to make a steel jig for it so you can heat treat it (or have it heat treated)? Seems like it might be prudent.

I think your material choice is not overkill. That's what i would have used as well. Well done.

That seems like awfully thin wall stock to build your swinger from, however I would be more than willing to defer to someone with more experience. I've not chopped up an alloy swing arm before....

strangely enough, it was the thickest I could find, 1/8"... i was originally looking at 1x2 stock, but I did some tests on it and it would twist way too much as a swingarm... this one is definitely getting heat treated though, I'll be doing some twist tests too against the stock swingarm, I've designed a little (big) jig to hold the arm by the pivot and twist the axle portion with a really really big spring, just measure the deflection and I figure it'll be a good gauge of whether I've got something or not

getting close to a finished swingarm, got the axle blocks back today from my machinist friend and they are KILLER!!! so I welded those up, forgot to tap one before I welded it and went DUH so now I'll have to come up with some kind of 6" tap extension before I can ride... got a 77lb piece of 1/2" plate steel for my jig too, seems to work really well, good and flat and great for clamping. machined up my pivot tube too, it's got needle roller bearings and needle thrust bearings, and the swingarm is still 4lbs less than stock, should help the back end really stick to the ground!

tacking up the pivot tube to make sure everything clears before final alignment and welding, there's going to be a crosstube in there too, 2X1" al tube

Almost done with the body too!

Wow! Dude, that's amazing! Love the body work, love the swing arm, love the oil tank... How did I miss this thread?!?
Can't wait to see it come together!

one word. bitch-tits.

that fairing is coming out awesome. you gonna have a headlight in it or is it only for track use?

almost done, just gotta weld on the shock mounts, and a tab for the brake bar and we'll be golden... I think had I had it all to do over again, I may have just powdercoated the old stock one....... I guess we'll see how much of a performance difference I get

I don't know if it is the wide-lens, but that tank does look a bit overwhelming... Either way, great build thus far.
