CB750 Starter Gear grinding

Hey Guys,

Havnt been on for awhile but i finally got a new project. a CB750 Starter only , no kick start and having an issue where when pressing the starter button the starter of course moves but sounds like its grinding? After 2-3 Tries the Bike turns on. Its almost like you have to catch it at a perfect timing with the Choke to get it going.

Did some googling around and nothing specific on grinding.

If its a DOHC model its a common problem you can get a repair kit to replace the springs and rollers in the starter gear clutch.
