cb750f and k8 oil tanks interchangable?

Just picked up a pretty nice '78 750K8 but I like the oil tank styling of the older models (big chrome cap and open side cover).

Anyone know if the older style oil tank is a bolt on replacement of the newer style?

I'm about 90% sure it bolts up but 100% sure the lines don't so you will need to get the tank and lines for the tank you get.

You just mean aesthetically the lines don't work with the older oil tank?

The tank on the bike I picked up is pretty trashed so that was going to be replaced. And the idea behind getting the older style oil tank was to get the side covers that matched and allow the chrome cap to stick up out of the side cover.

Good to know the oil tank should bolt on or be pretty close, wasn't sure if anything changed other than the shape.

The lines rout differently at the tank end, of things, do a search on eBay for earlier tanks and later tanks or F tanks and you can see the line differences and prices while looking...

Haha, by lines you meant oil lines. Forgive me, it is early in the morning here.

I'll be sure to grab the lines as well if I go that route. I have been told there is a great junk yard with quite a few cb750s to pick through so I am hoping the cost wont be too extreme if I find what I am looking for.
