That looks like a pretty clean bike to start with, man. Welcome aboard, and I look forward to seeing what you have in store.

Thanks guys, I know it does look took good to dismantle right? I'm gonna ride it stock for a few weeks and see how I feel about her I think. Just can't see me not putting a stamp on it!

wicked looking cb mate well done. if you looking for just seat tank etc there is a site i saw a few guys from here pick up seats from and tanks that will fit the 750 with hardly any modifications. i cant think of it at the moment but .................................................

ill find it

Oh I do agree with the fact that if the bike is like the pic in real life keep that sucker stock or through it in a museum. A bike in that condition are very rare....................but if it isn’t I’m just throwing options out there. I do like that 1100though mmmmmmm.

Hey man, it's your bike. It was a mass produced machine. If you want to chop it to pieces, DO IT! It's yours.

This is a site dedicated to the modification of motorcycles.

Like I said before, I look forward to seeing where you go with this thing.

X2

look forward to the build can't wait to see more pics

Thanks for all the opinions guys. I definitely set out to build my own cafe. Wanted one ever since I fell in love with my dads 750 commando.

I wanted to start with a good base with no corrosion or rust etc to save time and I think/hope I've found the perfect bike but pics can be deceiving... Soon as I pick her up I'll take a few proper picks and see what we got!

Ha! I've ridden it a few times, it's in a matisse frame... Im not joking when I say I had a groin strain for 2months after the last time! :'(

Ok bit of an update, im always careful so did a bike check. It's come back as a Jap import from back in 1996. Im in the UK by the way.

Is this something i should be concerned about? I've seen lots of jap imports before here in the UK but never actually bought one and dont know much about them. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers
Alan

Hi All, just picked up my CB750F yesterday, here are a few more pics. I have a few minor issues that im hoping to sort out over time.

The main issue thats worrying me slightly is that when I roll on the throttle say in 5th just sometimes the rev pitch changes and the needle will say jump up from 6k to 8k like ive dipped the clutch. I'm fairly new to bike mechanics but at a guess I would say the clutch is slipping? but it seems odd at such a high point in the rev range? and it only seems to do it in 5th (or ive only noticed it in 5th) Any ideas folks?

Other than that shes a beaut and the engine seems very strong!

How would a cable relate to slipping? Not trying bust balls here, I was thinking more like springs/plates rather than cable/plates.

Hey ray, the spring is also a good shout. I'll take a look and see what condition it's in. The cable seems to be fine and the biting point etc is perfect.

Thanks for the help guys, it's great to get opinions and knowledge from you.

Began the strip down. Straight forward so far. With the clutch slipping and the cam chain noisy, plus quite a lot of play in the rear swing arm and the front brakes being off or over the handlebars on! I decided for my own safety to take her off the road and do it properly!

Lots of pics of random wires, springs and bolts along the way so I can refer to them as my memory is shite.

There us no way this bike has only done 4.5k think they must have swapped the clocks to mph from the jap kph some time.
