I am using the standard contact breaker ignition on my CB450 but I have a set of CDI coils. Can I use them directly or do I need to make a change for them to work correctly.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Pete.
Teazer is correct.
The cdi delivers a higher voltage than the constant 12v you get from the battery with a points ignition. This means the ratio of the primary to secondary windings will be different.
You can try them, but expect significantly less voltage at the plugs and probably poor spark at higher rpms.
