I generaly don't use anything just give them a regular rub with autosol. I don't believe in lacquer or light lube as it just attracts the dirt! Do you have any suggestions?
Shark hide is supposed to be great but it is bloody hard to find, it's for protecting alloy on ships and protects really well. I have seen some bike parts that members have used it on and they look great years after. I only found one dealer for it in Canada and it was way to expensive to get it shipped to me. I am hoping to get some on my next long trip state side.
It's like a polish I believe or paste you rub on, buff off, all I know is it is considered a dangerous good and a container worth $20 bucks would have cost me $120 to ship it from NFLD to NB. It may be available in the UK, you can google it to find distributors.
It sounds good alright. I see what you mean about the price they have it on amazon for $59 a quart. Might be worth getting a few mates to go in on it. It would be worth 15-20 bucks if it lasted5-6 years!
Kiley, AKA Kanticoy swears by it and I have seen his polished parts on his bikes that are ridden and still shiney after a couple years. I am going to grab some from his supplier the next time I get to visit him.
This is where I am at the moment. The frame is primed and painted, the engine is washed down and the wheels are waiting for the new spokes to be fitted.
Used a grinder to remove all but a hint of emblem evenly around then used a worn light sanding disc again on the grinder ah then went at whole cover with wet and dry stepping all the way up to 1500 or2000! And polished with autosol! A bit of work but worth it I think!
