now that i look at an xl swingarm here you have the bolts ahead of the axle and also the axle is funny shaped so pull type adj won't work
i would just use another nut so as to capture the bolt on the bracket and keep it tight
easy peasy fix
Use snail cam off XR, you can use the original 'nut' as a stopper
To use pull type you would also have to cut down axle spacers to compensate for extra thickness between swing arm
my solution is simple as can be
unfortunately,SNAIL TYPE wont work without machining the axle and the nut side axle spacer
the early xl's are just like an elsinore with a "funny" axle design with the adjuster bolts in compression
