Changing monoshock bushings

Roro

The really perverted one amongst us
Hey guys
I want to replace the monoshock on my '82 XZ project with one off an early 98-02 Yamaha R1. The shock will fit fine, except the bolt/pin on the XZ are 12mm, vs 10mm on the R1.
Because of the XZ design I can't see a way to switch to a 10mm bolt / pin - is there a way to replace the bushings on the shock with a different size? They are firmly fixed in there - and where would I get replacements?

Any ideas or comments gratefully accepted.

Nice idea, but they would only be 1mm thick - I don't think I'd be happy with that

What about welding the holes closed on the XZ shock mounts and drilling them back out to 10mm?

Why would a 1mm bushing / shim be so wrong? Not sure I get you

The bushing would have to go on the frame / swingarm clevis, not the shock bushing. So, we are talking about 2 shims that would only be a few mm wide. Probably not doable / practical.

Thanks for the comments guys,

The top hat got me thinking - for the top end I can drill out the mount from 12 to 16mm and so put in a top hat of decent thickness

The bottom end is still an issue - it's a 12mm pin that sits in a tunnel on the frame - there's no drilling that out
