Charging woes

So here's the deal.

73 CB750
New wiring harness
New battery
New rm stator solid state rectifier/regulator

i checked the stator and have resistance in spec between all three yellow. @.9 to 1.1 ohms nothing to gnd. I even soldered the connections, no change

the field coil resistance is a little out of spec at 8 ohms

This bike will not charge.... any ideas?

Do you have a known good battery you can try? It's not unlikely to get a bad battery from time to time. I've actually been seeing it more often lately.

For the rotor, did you measure the resistance at the connector or between the slip rings? Did you clean the rings? Are your rotor brushes making good contact, or are they worn out?
My rotor was slightly out of spec, just a little low, so I replaced it with an aftermarket one (after also replacing the stator and r/r, which were shot). Works better than stock now. It actually charges at idle.
Have you checked out this fault finding chart? It helped me...

Robb,
Thanks for the input but my bike is a sohc. Charging system is a little different.

DJElliot,
I trickle charge the batt and it holds a charge. Been riding the bike @ 30 miles a charge. Not great for the batt but hey.. I could try to find another... but i don't think that's the issue.

As i see it, the stator and field coil are within factory spec for resistance but don't put out the correct acv for the reg/rec to turn it into useable battery charging volts.

I would replace them with new if they were available.....
