Charlotte, NC area tonners... I need your help!!

I need to rent or borrow a small displacement bike to take my road test for the DMV... The DMV apparently didn't transfer my GA motorcycle license over to North Carolina... So I had to retake the written test last week, and now have to take the Road test to get my license... Only problem is I dont have a bike... If anyone could help me out I would GREATLY appreciate it...

I doubt there are any "Tonners" in Charlotte (my condolences for living there, BTW).
Acme Motorcycles in Fairview rents bikes- you can take the test anywhere in the state- and then go for a ride all day. Or 2 days. Or just move here.

Aww come on...... whats wrong with Charlotte???

Where is Fairview at?? Is that up in the Mountains??
 
I think they're in Asheville... no clue where Fairview is. Possibly close. I checked them out a while back, thinking they had bigger bikes. They just had two dual sports, which sit way too high for me. Don't know your preference but you're close to the same height as me. Rentals were like $75 a day or close.

I don't have one to lend, only running bike is the ex's and it need a valve adjust and carb sync, and the tags are close to a year out.

I've got to go out to Rockwell one night to get some pictures of the 750 frame and engine so I can through it up for sale. So, if a particular day works better for you, let me know. I think Lee said Monday or Tuesday works best for me going out to his place, so just shoot me a text and let me know when.
 
Basically, Fairview is a couple of shopping centers with houses around them, buried in the woods. Great riding around there. It's basically next to Asheville. Anyhoo, there's a really good chance you can get Scott to rent you a CB350 or BMW R65.

I have 2 bikes that run really great- but I don't know you or your history. My legs are shot, so I can't even give you a ride to the DMV and let you use it for the test. If I could carry a passenger, I would do that.

Just call Scott and tell him your story and plead. Nibble on his ear and promise to bring him cookies. The worst he can do is say no.

I've got a CB350 you could use if we could work something out with my schedule. You break it, you buy it of course :D. Which DMV's around Charlotte do road tests?

I thought you were moving overseas.

CC that would be awesome... I would probably go to the DMV off of Idelwild and 74. What does your schedule look like next week? I need to call and schedule a road test with the DMV.. I am moving to England, but need to get my full license before I leave so that I can ride a bike over there on a provisional license..

I have to give a BIG thanks to CCRider.... Chris was nice enough to meet me up at the DMV at 8:30 this morning with his spare 350 and brave the hot muggy conditions... Strangely enough as I was taking my road test a guy pulled up with a 72 CB 450 in the back of his truck.... It was in rough shape, but still a nice piece of kit...

Thanks again Chris... you are the man. Good luck with that tiller!!!

So do you guys organize field trips to the mountains, or is there some places that are fun to ride around there?
