What's up fellow two-wheelers. I'm starting my first build and am likely already in over my head- thought it would be a good time to introduce myself! I'm working out of a communal garage in Brooklyn with access to lifts, a whole suite of tools, a sandblaster, MIG and TIG welders- the possibilities are endless so I'm really only limited by my mechanical savvy, the thinness of my wallet, and the size of my cojones.
Now a little about the beast... she's a 1981 CB750F Super Sport DOHC I bought on Craigslist with ~32K miles. I spent a season riding her throughout New York and Long Island, checking her vitals and rebuilding components where necessary. This included new tires, a full tear-down and rebuild of the carbs with all new plumbing, valve clearance and cam chain tension adjustment, and electrical testing. Compression is 180psi +/- 10psi on all four cylinders and she really does run quite well. Sadly this was not enough to stop me from venturing down the cafe road, taking what is an incredible machine, given its 34 years of age, and chopping, hacking, and bolting where no bolt was meant to go.
I'm nervous, excited, and rapidly becoming poorer. A year or two from now hopefully I'll still have all my fingers (there have already been some close calls), and a kick-ass machine to ride around on.
I'm also on the 750C and 1100F forum using the same handle. Look forward to working with y'all!
