just incase anybody cares about this, i have a little update.
i searched a bit harder for a CDI and found this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111115858366?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

i just received it and what do you know, its made for 125/250cc honda ripoff singles as stated on the factory box it came from. so yes, all honda singles use the same CDI unit. and it ended up costing me about $50 more to find that out.
