That's because they're cheap, disposable cars. The depreciation on them is second only to a Kia. Since Americans are too stupid to realize it's more cost effective and ecologically friendly to keep and maintain (ding ding ding lazy ass america) a paid off car they will continue to trickle down the ladder of cars they can afford new. Soon you'll see nothing but Kias and Hyundais rolling on 20's going down the street.
