well i finished re wiring my entire 76 cj360t got a new reg/rec combo from oregon motorsorts. and got the bike running checked charging and charging around 12.5v at idle 13.7 at 3000-4000 rpm then right when i hit around 5000rpm charging Voltage across battery drops to 7v and bike dies. check all wiring everything is good. checked all connections everything seems fine. so wired in a old harley battery i got laying around and started bike checked voltage across battery at idle is the same 12.5V 13.7V around 3500rpm and then when i hit around 5000 rpm when the bike was dying before it peaks out at 14V and keeps reving. i was confused so i hooked up other battery and once again the charging dropped to 7.v around 5k RPM and bikes dies. the battery is brand new i got it a battery plus its just a sealed 12v 7.5amp/hour battery. has anyone seen this it seems to me the battery is the issue but i dont understand how a battery could do that. im gonna try to attach picture of battery.

I've been using the same style/type/rating batteries for over a year without any problems.
Either the battery is faulty, there is something wrong with your wiring or the regulator is over regulating

What other modifications have you made?
There could be carburation issues as well as electrical

Carbs are fine you rebuilt them for me PJ :) . It's just weird cuz I hooked up another battery and it was fine reved out normal didn't stall, hook up pictured battery and bike won't rev over 4000rpm. Is 14v to high that was at close to redline sms it barely hit 14v

I would say faulty battery, maybe bad or missing ground on rectifier?
Put voltmeter on 'new' battery and see if voltage drops at 4,000
I checked Brendon's bike this evening, he's getting about 14.2v max (regulator working fine ;) )

Right at 4000-5000 with the pictured battery the bike dies then right before it dies battery voltage drops to about 7v and with another battery hooked up it runs normal

Replaced battery all issues are fixed the battery had internal short. Now just got to figure out sputtering issue mid to full throttle while accelerating.
