I've loved cafe racers (well the style) for a long time and have collected a good number of pics of styles. I finally purchased a 1977 CJ360T rustbucket for $305.00.
I'll start a build thread as progress continues.
So far I've ordered a CB200 Tank, pulled the motor, ripped the bike down to the frame and am planning on sandblasting and powdercoating tomorrow.
I could use all the help/advice of anyone local but hope to do most of the work myself.
Sweet looking bike. I just picked up a 76CJ360T too, almost identical to yours. I love the fender, the massive 2 into 1 muffler, and the rear cowl. I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll do with it. Get a build thread going !
Welcome to the site. I too have a CJ360T. They're underrated bikes and a lot of fun.
Not sure what your plans are, but if you want to keep the stock airbox I've got a set of nearly brand new air filters (no longer available) and some other bits if you need them.
There are digital copies of the Honda shop manual floating around. If you can't find one, PM me and I'll get it to you. Also, get the Motion Pro Honda tappet gauge for adjusting the valves. It's like $11 shipped and makes getting accurate readings a lot easier. If you have to use a normal feeler gauge, make your bend at about a CM from the end. The Motion Pro tool is a lot narrower as well. The swingarm bushings are junk, but there is a nice fellow who sells bronze replacements for them. I can point you in the right direction on those too.
Indie: Thanks for the advice. I looked up the tool mentioned but am not sure what size I need. Any idea? Also I would really like to get a copy of the manual if you could find one. I will PM you.
Joey: Your work looks great. If I can't get the motor looking good I might pay you a visit. I would love to get the motor set up the right way by someone who knows what they're doing. I don't have any experience with carbs!.
With the tail section I'm working on. Still needs the second coat of body filler to be sanded down, and I'm cutting the seat shorter a bit, but it doesn't look bad.
Polished up the front hub really well. I'm quite happy with the results.
also i see that indie sent you a link to a manual? would it be poss to get the link too please? I have just recieved my cj360t and cant find a manual to look at, any chance indie, or yourself still have the link to send over please??
good luck with the bike build and look forward to the progress!!!!
