I have a CB175 motor on my CL and it have updated mikuni 40mm carbs. i have straight pipes and aftermarket airfilters. I have not checked the size of the jets yet. I can get it to start first kick with the help of carb cleaner/brake cleaner, after that it idles real high for a while, i can give it gas after that no problem, any ideas? is it too lean?

Hoping they are VM20's as well......

I can't say if it's running lean by what you described, but it does sound there is an issue. Find out what jets you have first.

whoa! Way too big.

I'm not saying it's impossible to tube those since I've never tried it.......but VM20's will run that motor very well. Sell the 32's, and get some smaller ones.

3 is the measurement you want:

Backshed, have you seen this?:

I compiled a bunch of stuff a long time ago. Hopefully there's still some good info in there.....

i know these are not the original carbs, i have no idea what they are, but they are looking like vm22's the PO got some new ones, im thinking they are lean only because they wont run unless the choke is on

Unscrew the top of it - where the cables go in. Look at the cap and the slide itself, I can't remember if the size is stamped / etched on either of those.
