cl175 engine knock?

Not sure what it is. Started the engine for the first time since the rebuild. Everything has been adjusted correctly. When it starts it fires right up on the first kick but has this weird knocking noise that sounds like a chain running. When the bike is off and i wheel it forward, i can hear it as the chain goes. if i go slow.. it clanks slow. sounds like its coming from the bottom half of the motor. when i took the cover off, it looked like the noise was coming from the gear that the chain was connected to.

really not sure what it is. i want to take it in to get looked at but i wanted to see what you guys thought first!!!

thanks for the help!

Are you talking about the drive chain (around the rear wheel) or the timing chain? Just want to clarify.

I had a weird "grinding" noise coming by my front sprocket on my drive-train on my cb360. I pulled the chain and both sprockets and replaced them all. The chain was definitely old and not well maintained but didn't look stretched. The right side of the front sprockets teeth were slightly ground down. After replacement the noise stopped. It wasn't a knocking though? Is your chain adjusted properly? you could be getting a little slap if its loose

the drive chain. its not loose at all. could be the sprockets? but it doesn't seem to be that. its not slipping at all. when it rotates it seems to click at a certain point when i walk the bike forward. when its running, it still makes the noise. sounds like a chain somewhere running against something. really weird. any ideas? this is the last thing before the bike is done! i need to post pictures.

Was the chain and sprockets replaced since the rebuild? Could be a tight and/or loose spot in the links.
