So I picked up a couple of CL175s today for a decent price. The good bike with a title has the shifter spindle broken off at the shift lever. Looks like it stripped so they decided to drill it for a pin then weld it later. It looks like they drilled the hole WAY too big and ended up breaking the lever off. I was wondering how difficult this is going to be to replace? I believe I found a thread about a CL450 and that you didn't need to split the case.
I'm not sure of the condition of the motor on the parts bike. Kick starter is broken somehow internally it seems and I haven't been able to do a compression check or anything on it tonight. Judging by the rest of the parts bike as a whole it doesn't seem like a good plan at this moment. It does have very nice looking pipes though
It's an easy swap but requires removal of the clutch IIRC. Pull the clutch cover remove the pressure plate and hub with plates. Slide out the shaft and replace. Don't forget to remove the circlip on the shift shaft under the grime by the sprocket.
Pull your spare motor apart to get the spare shaft out first.
well i started to pull apart the parts bike and the motor was locked up so that's a no-go. it seems as if the shifter spindle should come out pretty easily once i got the clutch out.
if anyone reading this is needing parts i will be selling a lot of the parts off this bike if you are missing a few random pieces just ask and i will probably sell you them before i put them on ebay.
