CL350 exhaust assembly question

I am a bit confused if I have reassembled my exhaust properly. I have seen diagrams that have conflicting information.

The way I have reassembled it is with the parts going in this order:

1. Insert Pipe (5) into motor.
2. Place collars (2) around pipe
3. Thread flange thru bolts then tighten the nuts.

This looks to be the way it is assembled in the cross-sectional diagram in my shop manual.

But I have seen other diagrams that look like this (ignore the red circle) :

That show the assembly as:
1. Collars
2. Pipe
3. Flange

Which is correct?

you did it right. Those 2 diagrams actually show the same thing, but the collars are just pictured close together.

Yup you're good. I just had to put mine back on and had the same query. Figured it out through trial and error.
