CL350 won't turnover

So I went to crank up the bike a few days ago & the electric start would not work, so I tried to kick start, nothing, tried to hill start it, nothing.
Hooked the bike up to the battery tender for a day & the electric start & all of the other electrics work now, but it still won't start up. The engine sounds like it is not getting any spark (even with new spark plugs).
I tried hill starting & the engine sounded like it was trying to turn over but would not kick to life even when I was giving it some throttle.

I thinking it could be the solenoid or the stater. Any suggestions, I'm kind of at a loss right now.

take the spark plug out and give it a kick or use the button Check if you have spark...Your wires may also be arcing ....But if you just have a weak spark unscrew the spark plug cap and cut 1/4 inch off and screw back into newer copper, the same can be done at the coil ( I think not all bikes are the same)

Are the plugs wet with fuel? It "COULD" be a spark problem. Like he said ^ you hafta check spark. BUT! you could also have a carb issue. Not enough fuel or too much. Could be timed wrong...bad points...lots of variables. Start one by one and narrow it down.

Took the spark plug out, they are definitely not wet, the contact point is a bit black & dry.

Checked for a spark. No spark. Cut down the wire......still no go. Any suggestions?

So I think its clear that your engine will turn over but your just not getting it to start right..... get a multimeter first and check those coils... those old coils tend to go bad easily .... if you get good readings with ur coils move to the wires like someone else said.... if they dont remedy your situation ... i would check your wiring connections.... for your coils and make sure none got rusted and corroded.... if indeed your coils need to be replaced it can be a pretty big issue to go and buy used ones off of ebay.. because you dont know how long they will last..... then you have aftermarket accel coils that will cost you 130 plus dollars.... or as an old redneck showed me you can spend about fifty dollars on an accel coil number 140408 this is a coil for points only problem is its a one piece coil for both cylinders and you'll have to fab a mounting bracket and also go down one heat range on your plugs..... I to also own a CL350 1972 .... I had every problem possible with this bike but with the help of the manual and forums like this shes running pretty good any other questions just shoot me a pm....

It started up this morning with the electric start, rode it for about 20 minutes, then let it sit. Now it the electric start (or kick start) won't kick it over, but it does kick start when the key is turned to the ignition position but it wont run any of the lights.

Not sure if that is a coil problem or an electric problem, maybe the solenoid?

im no electrical engineer but i think the starter solenoid has little to do with the lights. sounds like your charging system might be faulty.

Time to break out the multi meter and start checking wires. Sounds like maybe a short to ground somewhere?

Did some serious wire detective work, turned out to be as simple as it could possibly. Two wires were flipped. Kicked over immediately once I switched them back.
Bike is running perfectly now.
