Cleaning and re-coating gas tank? Anything I should keep in mind?

So, at some point my Suzuki got a good kreeming... however, looks like an old job, and the stuff is peeling off like crazy, exposing rust beneath it, and has filled my petcock with rust dust. Im going to have to clean it and coat it.

Any products you guys recomend or anything I should keep an eye out for? Ive never done this before, so let me know what Im in for!

I used this kit from Eastwood on mine:

Worked really well and comes with everything but muriatic acid, which you can get at a home improvement store. My tank was pretty damn nasty inside but cleaned up well with this kit.

POR15 makes a kit that comes with a stripper to get the old stuff off as well as everything you need to recoat with their tank sealer.

I used POR15 on my tank and it came out awesome.

Thanks dudes - I heard a lot about the POR-15 stuff. Guess its like night and day with the KREEM, which ive heard sucks.

There was another brand that was mentioned that I cant remember - Its some type of epoxy though. Said it puts all others to shame.
