Clip ons and foot controls

Hey DTT, new guy here. Been lurking around for quite some time. I'll be getting into a CL350 project bike in the next few weeks. My first order of business is to replace the handlebars. My question is that if I install clip on bars, do I need to reinstall the foot controls/pegs to the back of the frame, or can i keep them in the stock position? If it means anything, I'm about 5'9"- 5'10". Thanks in advance

You can leave the foot controls where they are and take it for a spin after you put on the new bars. See how it feels and whether or not a change is necessary to achieve your desired/comfortable riding posture.

Usually with more forward positioned bars (such as clip-ons) rear set foot pegs will make the over all ergonomics of the bike much better and handle better. However as stated in the previous responses. Adjust each component to your personal liking.

I left my stock foot controls when i first got my bike and added clubmans. It seemed ok, until i added rearsets, much more comfortable.

Like stated before, try it. If you dont like it, then either add rearsets, or put the stock bars back on.

Short answer is YES. Lower bars and stock pegs make for a rounded back riding position that becomes uncomfortable real fast.

Think of it as rotating your whole riding position forwards. Hands and upper body rotate forward and down and legs and feet rotate back.

Little story here, for a long time I always viewed the riding stance of sport bike riders as very uncomfortable. But, then one day I was daydreaming and came to realize that when I ride a road bicycle, your legs and hips are vertical while you lean forward and down for your handlebars. On a sport bike, you are basically at a vertical position and then your whole body is rotated forward and downward, which means a more comfortable position than that of a bicyclist. So, after I realized this, I did try a sport bike and was impressed with the riding position. But, I still like my cruiser better. LOL
